Actum is an international, bi-partisan strategy consulting firm. The Washington D.C. office works with business, government, and non-profit clients to serve strategic consulting, government relations, public relations, coalition building, digital and crisis management efforts. While the subject areas involved in our work range greatly from client to client, some frequent topics include health, education, energy, space, defense, technology, entertainment, and labor issues. 

Junior Associates will support the Washington D.C. office with day-to-day client work. This program is a wonderful opportunity to gain insight into the daily workings of a consulting firm, as well as valuable experience working on policy, communications, and political issues. Responsibilities

Responsibilities vary depending on the needs of the client, but include: 

- Track legislation and regulatory developments for relevant issue areas.

- Prepare policy briefs and backgrounders.

- Develop legislative target lists. 

- Assist with creating books and other leave behind materials for client visits.

- Attend and provide readouts for hearings, webinars, and coalition meetings.

- Support client advocacy campaigns and issue spot for relevant areas of interest to the firm’s clients. 

- Monitor media coverage and compile daily news clips.

- Develop media lists.

- Support event planning and execution.

- Assist with client research. 

- Participate in brainstorms and pitch development.

Desired Qualifications:

- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Strong research and critical thinking skills 

- Self-motivated, with strong interpersonal skills 

- Teamwork and adaptability

- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize time to meet deadlines

- Interest in politics, communication, issue advocacy or media relations

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and social media sites (i.e. Facebook, YouTube and X)

- Professionalism, strong organization skills, and incredible attention to detail  

Notes: 

- This internship is a part time (~25-30 hours a week) or full time (~35-40 hours a week), temporary position (May-August)

- Internship is in-person (no remote work allowed) 

- Open to undergraduate students, graduate students or recently graduated individuals 

- Pay is $17.95 / hour
