Summary

The position is located in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy in the Cultural Heritage Center (ECA/P/C). This position is a recognized expert on cultural heritage issues, coordinates activities of one or more Congressionally mandated advisory mechanisms, and serves as manager of one or more complex, interagency programs established by Congress and managed by the Center.


Duties

Coordinates activities for one or more of the Congressionally advisory and/or interagency mechanisms or committees for which the Center serves as secretariat.

Serves as manager and team lead for one or more complex, interagency programs established by Congress and managed by the Center; sets strategic goals for the program; oversees planning and implementation of projects.

Coaches the team in the selection and application of appropriate problem-solving methods and techniques and provides advice on work methods, practices and procedures.

Carries out primary analysis of cultural property protection and cultural heritage preservation issues at global, regional, country and sub-national levels.

Provides recommendations on existing and proposed cultural heritage protection and preservation policy initiatives and to more broadly advance cultural heritage protection.

Represents the Bureau and Department as an expert in cultural heritage protection, and establishes and maintains liaison with officials and experts in intergovernmental, governmental, and non-governmental organizations.
