Job Description
City Year Dallas is seeking a creative, collaborative, and results-oriented individual to serve as a Learning and Development Manager. Reporting to the Learning and Evaluation Director, this position is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of AmeriCorps members training and data.
The Learning and Development Manager will work closely with City Year program staff to create differentiated instruction and training for AmeriCorps members to ensure the facilitation of high-quality service.
Responsibilities
The Learning and Evaluation Manager supports the service delivery trainings for AmeriCorps, including utilizing data to inform decision-making efforts:
Corps Member Development (70%)
- Execute trainings for AmeriCorps members, including events such as Pre-Service Training (3 weeks in July-August), a Mid-Year Summit (January) and ongoing trainings year-round (weekly - September, 2 days per month – October-May).
- Work with the Learning and Evaluation Director to enhance a comprehensive learning and development program for AmeriCorps members that varies for high school and college graduates.
- Provide targeted trainings to support AmeriCorps members in their implementation of whole school supports and individual student academic interventions.
- Provide one-on-one and team-level intervention curriculum and tutoring resources to support academic interventions
- Support Learning and Development workstreams (Leadership After City (LACY), Diversity Belonging, Inclusion, and Equity (DBIE), and Senior AmeriCorps Leaders (SLs), plus other workshops designed to support the professional development of AmeriCorps Members.
Analyzing and Evaluating Data (20%)
- Analyze student-level and ACM-level data to assess the impact of specific programming
- Monitor cyschoolhouse (City Year’s internal online database), including data entry, as well as train and support staff and AmeriCorps members on its use
- Ensure all deadlines for data collection and analysis are met
- Use data strategically to help inform service delivery, learning, and development to ensure corps members and staff are committed to student success and equipped to meet City Year standards as practitioners in schools
- Utilize data to identify training needs for AmeriCorps members and assess needs on an ongoing basis.
- Utilize feedback gained in coaching sessions by Impact staff to improve supports and training for AmeriCorps members.
Program and Service Operations (10%)
- Coordinate training needs with Learning and Evaluation Director to ensure efficient use of resources
- Ensure the program is aligned and responsive to the ACME (AmeriCorps Member Experience)
- Work with City Year Headquarters to share best practices in training and to continue to develop the Learning and Development program
- Develop and manage external relationships with trainers across the DFW area
- Devote up to ten (10) days a year to corps member recruitment interviews
- Attend and mobilize team for whole site events like Opening Day, MLK Day, Annual Fundraiser Gala, Graduation, and other site-wide events
- Other duties as assigned

Additional Required Experience and Qualities Needed
- BA/BS required; Master’s degree a plus
- 2+ years of experience working with or for an urban school district
- Knowledge of Dallas ISD schools preferred
- AmeriCorps/City Year experience a plus
- Strong group facilitation and presentation skills
- Experience in data management and data analysis techniques
- Demonstrated ability to work with and inspire a diverse team in educational, community service, or youth development organization
- Knowledge of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of standards-based curriculum and instruction
- Strong commitment to and experience developing a diverse and inclusive workforce and working effectively with people with different work styles and backgrounds
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to work with and interact with multiple, diverse stakeholders
- Able to execute on goals within flexible and changing environments
- Willingness to powerfully represent City Year, including wearing the City Year uniform, and upholding all City Year professional standards
