Job Description

The Legislative and Policy Assistant plays a key role in supporting the daily operations of the Washington, D.C. office and assisting lawyers and lobbyists with substantive legislative and policy work. This position involves a blend of administrative responsibilities and research‑focused tasks that help ensure the office runs efficiently and that client and attorney needs are met in a timely manner.

The Legislative and Policy Assistant supports lawyers and lobbyists by responding to research requests, tracking legislation and committee hearings, preparing memoranda, summaries, tables, and other materials for client and attorney updates, and assisting with special projects as needed. In addition, day‑to‑day responsibilities include answering and directing phone calls, maintaining office supply inventories, processing reimbursement requests for lawyers and lobbyists, and handling other general office and administrative functions.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing multiple priorities, adapting quickly in a fast‑paced environment, and taking on new tasks as they arise in the normal course of work at a law and government relations firm. Applicants should have prior experience working on Capitol Hill, strong research skills, and a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite. A solid understanding of how the U.S. federal government and the U.S. Congress operate is essential. The position may require flexibility to work beyond normal business hours when necessary.
