The Office of Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan (VA-04) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legislative Intern to work in her Washington, DC office for the Spring 2027 term. This is a paid internship. The internship is intended for current undergraduate students, graduate students, and recent graduates interested in gaining invaluable congressional experience. Ideal candidates will demonstrate professionalism, strong communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, commitment to public service, and the ability to work in a fast-paced work environment. Candidates with Virginia ties are strongly encouraged to apply.

The Spring 2027 internship term runs from mid-January through early-May 2027. Exact start and end dates are negotiable. Internships are in-person and offered on a part-time and full-time basis to accommodate student schedules.

Legislative Intern tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Answering constituent phone calls
  • Providing tours of the United States Capitol
  • Attending policy briefings and meetings
  • Conducting legislative research to support the needs of the Congresswoman's staff
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Legislative Director or Chief of Staff
