MACRO POLICY & GEOPOLITICAL RISK EXPERT (REMOTE)

Compensation: $45-60/hour ($94,000-$125,000 annually, based on experience)
POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Macro Policy & Geopolitical Risk Expert to join our team. In this role, you will analyze the intersection of macroeconomic policy developments and geopolitical dynamics, assess how policy shifts impact global markets, and provide actionable intelligence to institutional clients navigating complex policy and geopolitical landscapes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor and analyze macroeconomic policy developments including fiscal policy, monetary policy, trade policy, and regulatory frameworks across major economies
Assess the geopolitical implications of policy decisions and their impact on global markets and investment strategies
Evaluate country and regional-level risks stemming from policy changes, political instability, and strategic tensions
Develop scenario analyses and predictive models forecasting policy trajectories and their market implications
Produce executive-ready briefings, reports, and dashboards translating complex policy dynamics into actionable investment recommendations
Collaborate with quantitative researchers on policy data integration and index construction
Track legislative developments, central bank decisions, and regulatory changes affecting global capital flows
Provide real-time policy alerts and long-term strategic guidance on macro-policy trends
Contribute to the development of policy-focused scenario models and risk scoring methodologies
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree or PhD in Economics, Public Policy, International Relations, Political Economy, or related field
3-7 years of experience in macroeconomic policy analysis, economic research, private sector consulting, or academic research
Deep understanding of fiscal policy, monetary policy, trade policy, and their geopolitical implications
Strong analytical capabilities with expertise in economic data analysis and policy forecasting
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to translate technical policy analysis for investment audiences
Experience with macroeconomic modeling and policy impact assessment
Proven track record of policy research and publication
Self-motivated with ability to work independently in a remote environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working with institutional investors, hedge funds, asset management firms, or financial consulting
Background in major think tanks, research institutions, or international organizations
Regional expertise in U.S., EU, emerging markets, or Asia-Pacific policy frameworks
Knowledge of geopolitical risk frameworks and how policy shifts create investment opportunities/risks
Proficiency with data analysis tools (Python, R, Stata, Bloomberg Terminal)
Experience with scenario planning and stress testing methodologies
Additional language proficiency in major languages (Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Korean, or Arabic)
Published research on macroeconomic policy or political economy topics
