Job purpose

The mission of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation is to honor the sacrifice of firefighter Stephen Siller who laid down his life to save others on September 11, 2001. We also honor our military and first responders who continue to make the supreme sacrifice of life and limb for our country. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation is committed to eradicating homelessness amongst our veterans.

This position manages sponsorships, peer-to-peer fundraising, and participant recruitment for the NYC Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk and Tower Climb. The role drives sponsor acquisition and fulfillment, supports individual and team fundraising, and collaborates with internal teams to deliver a high-quality event experience while tracking revenue and engagement results.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Identify, solicit, and steward event sponsors at all levels.
  • Build and manage a pipeline of local, regional, and national sponsors specific to the NYC Tunnel to Towers 5K Run and Walk and Tunnel to Towers Tower Climb NYC.
  • Develop tailored sponsorship proposals and fulfillment plans aligned with sponsor objectives.
  • Coordinate sponsor activation, branding, and on-site engagement in collaboration with Events and Marketing teams.
  • Ensure timely delivery of sponsor benefits, recognition, and post-event reporting.
  • Lead peer-to-peer fundraising strategy for individual participants, teams, and corporate groups.
  • Establish fundraising benchmarks, incentives, and recognition programs to drive performance.
  • Monitor fundraising progress and proactively engage participants approaching key milestones.
  • Support top fundraisers and team captains with coaching, tools, and storytelling resources.
  • Collaborate with Development leadership to maximize donor conversion and upgrades.
  • Recruit individuals, corporate teams, first responder groups, schools, and community organizations to participate in the NYC Tunnel to Towers 5K Run and Walk and the Tunnel to Towers Tower Climb NYC.
  • Grow corporate and community teams through targeted outreach and relationship building.
  • Serve as primary liaison for team captains and group leaders.
  • Support recruitment campaigns in partnership with Marketing and Communications.
  • Support pre-event communications, race-week logistics, and on-site sponsor and participant experience.
  • Serve as on-site contact for sponsors, VIPs, and team leaders on event day.
  • Ensure a high-quality, mission-driven experience for sponsors, participants, and honorees.
  • Lead post-event stewardship, including thank-you communications, impact reporting, and renewal outreach.
  • Track sponsorship revenue, fundraising progress, and participant engagement using CRM tools.
  • Maintain accurate records of sponsor interactions, contracts, and deliverables.
  • Produce post-event revenue reports, sponsor summaries, and performance insights.
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure alignment.
  • Support Foundation-wide fundraising campaign initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, sponsorship sales, or event-based development.
  • Proven success in securing corporate sponsorships or managing fundraising campaigns.
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and relationship-management skills.
  • Experience with peer-to-peer fundraising platforms and CRM systems.
  • Strong organizational and design skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Experience working on large-scale road races or mass participation events.
  • Knowledge of the NYC corporate, philanthropic, or athletic landscape.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, RunSignup, or similar platforms.
  • Passion for supporting military, first responder, and veteran communities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office/ Google Suite (or equivalent).
  • Pre-employment screening, including a background check, is required.

Working conditions

Special working conditions may include: a change in days worked, shift hours, and/or workingconditions (outdoors or other locations) when participating and assisting in special events needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
