Essential Functions:
The Marketing & Communications Manager is a strategic and creative thinker responsible for designing and producing materials in support of Center on Halsted’s (COH) programs and mission eliciting engagement and support. Primary duties include managing requests from staff to craft materials on deadline ensuring accurate, appealing, and on-brand designs representing programs and events on social media, the Center on Halsted website, Center on Halsted e-newsletters, media relations, website content, onsite print materials, and more. The ideal candidate must have both print and web design skills; must be experienced in digital/mobile communications; and must be proficient with Adobe Creative Suite. The Marketing & Communications Manager will be a self-starter who likes being highly productive who can work across departments. Job Duties
•Provide strategic, creative planning & production of marketing and communications materials in various forms (online, social media, print, etc) in support of the organization’s mission, programs, events
•Leverage skills with creative design tools in creation of collateral including, but not limited to Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign in a Desktop environment
•Maintain and continuously update the organization’s website, including program content, event listings and other needs as they emerge
•Maintain and continuously update the organization’s onsite communications across print pieces and digital lobby signage at all three locations
•Manage internal stakeholder requests and gather copy and initial ideas in order to design and implement communication pieces
•Work with print vendors to acquire print quotes and execute outside printing as needed for onsite signage, promotional materials, and operational needs
•Prioritize multiple projects and manage flow of design projects communicating procedures and expectations as needed
•Work closely with the Chief Development Officer, and program staff to ensure all print and online materials are reflective of organization’s strategic brand and image
•Support the organization’s overall communications and marketing needs including facilitating and project management of public-facing meetings, events, and developing print collateral
•Lead creation of annual impact report including design elements, curating and creating copy for stories, and execute overall theme
•Lead all fundraising and stewardship event branding including, but not limited to, supporting email and mail invites, ensuring brand integrity for Center on Halsted through visual pieces at event, and draft speaking points for speakers for events such as Santa Speedo Run, Human First Gala, AIDS Run & Walk, WERQ Career Fair, in addition to one-off events throughout the calendar year
•Create annual Marketing and Communications Plans in collaboration with the development department
•Oversee and execute social media content and strategy, including paid social media advertising campaigns, capturing and coordinating shortform video content including reels and social media campaigns
•Track and report key performance metrics across communications such as email, social media, website traffic, and digital campaigns and use analytics to inform communications strategy and audience engagement
•Manage media relations including drafting press releases, strengthening relationships with media, and serving as COH media contact point
•Perform as main manager for Center on Halsted’s brand and voice with all marketing and communication pieces in collaboration with Chief Development Officer and Chief Executive Officer.

•Results – proven track record of ensuring program success; 2-5 years of successful graphic design experience in a mid-sized and/or nonprofit organization required
•Strategic Vision and Agility – ability to think strategically and anticipate future consequences and trends; ability to incorporate such trends into the organizational plan
•Technology Skills - Adobe CS6 - Expert knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign; Basic Microsoft Office; Basic -; Website CMS knowledge; Canva; Hootsuite
•Detail Oriented – ability to proof, review, send artwork to print and work with printers during the proofing process
•Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) sensitivity
•Design Sensibility – ability use the elements of design to effectively present ideas verbally and visually
•Communication – ability to communicate effectively with staff, resident partners, funders and community members; ability to design effective and visually appealing online and print materials in order to further the organizational mission of Center on Halsted
