Angel Flight West is a non-profit organization that arranges free air and ground transportation for patients and other compelling passengers. Transportation is donated by volunteer pilots flying their planes, by commercial airline partners, and by volunteer drivers utilizing their cars. These volunteers and partners cover the cost of flying or driving so that transportation is always free to families and individuals in need.

Mission Operation Coordinators are responsible for the successful day-to-day operations of arranging donated air and ground transportation from our volunteers and commercial airline partners. The position requires a resolute approach to answering phones and emails, while multi-tasking numerous daily responsibilities, data management and overall trip logistics. Mission Operation Coordinators work closely with our volunteers and healthcare professionals in arranging over 7,000 flights per year for patients, caregivers, and other compelling passengers. The position requires a great deal of empathy, while at the same time maintaining a great deal of objectivity. 

Experience/Qualifications: 

  • Mission-driven and hardworking: The ideal candidate is passionate about removing transportation as a barrier to healthcare. They will join a small team of other coordinators and staff who are similarly dedicated to the mission of Angel Flight West. Proactive and can-do attitude a must!  
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills:  The ideal candidate can handle high call and email volume in a professional and prompt manner. Coordinators are the first line of communication with our volunteers, healthcare professionals, and passengers from a wide variety of socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Team player & Multi-tasking: The ideal candidate can prioritize and handle multiple tasks effectively. They must be able to work efficiently and enthusiastically within a collaborative coordination team and organization as a whole.
  • Proven attention to detail: Attention to detail is critical in the daily operations of our flights and drives. The ideal candidate must be able to work well under pressure when workload demands and meet timelines while maintaining the highest level of accuracy in data management. 
  • High level of computer competency: Similar to a small airline, our Angel Flights are coordinated using a customized database management system and applicant must have high level of computer literacy. Should be internet savvy and proficient in Microsoft Suite and data entry duties/management. Experience in WordPress, Salesforce, and social media platforms a plus! 
  • Sense of Humor: We are a close and professional team, but we always take the time to support and appreciate each other and our achievements. 

Requirements: 

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience in social work, non-profit, communications, public health, transportation, or similar field. 
  • Must be available for full-time position starting with hybrid remote/in-person training (due to COVID-19 precautions) and eventual transitioning back to on-site office at Santa Monica, CA. 
  • Knowledge of general aviation helpful but not required. 
  • Spanish fluency helpful but not required.
