Position Summary: This position reports directly to the Director of External Relations. The National Membership Associate will collaborate on the administration of development and continual growth of the Membership Network by cultivating new members, developing strong relationships to retain members and engaging prospects in understanding AFA benefits
AFA membership is a network of providers, including businesses in the traditional healthcare sector, government agencies, non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and safety agencies, committed to offering support, advocacy, and direct service to those living with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

Responsibilities
- Maintain and recruit new AFA members.
- Deliver exceptional customer relations and support to AFA Members through entire membership lifecycle by mail/email/phone/conference call/in-person meetings and assist with the execution of emails and other marketing efforts.
- Liaise with member organizations to maintain good working relationships by orienting new members and continually informing members of services and benefits of AFA’s memberships.
- Collaborate with External Relations team to develop and expand member services to offer increased engagement.
- Maintain membership database integrity by managing membership application process; accurately updating membership records and information; generating membership reports; and invoicing/following up with members to ensure membership renewals.
- Track and process grant applications as part of AFA’s 5 cycle grant schedule.
- Collaborate with other External Relations Staff Members to drive attendance at AFA events, specifically: Educating Across America Tour and Women’s Empowerment Forum
- Create and distribute the monthly membership newsletter.
- Support monthly Educating Across America Tour through membership outreach.
- Assist with Educating Across America Tour back-end support.
- Bachelor’s degree in sales, marketing and business preferred.
- 2-3 years’ work experience in non-profit preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines.
- Excellent written, oral, interpersonal and presentation communication skills.
- Must be comfortable performing outreach (cold calling) to prospective AFA members by phone.
- Goals oriented and results driven.
- Direct experience working in membership services is highly preferred.
- Previous internship or work experience managing large projects/programs.
- Strong proficiency using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint required), grants management.
- Proficiency in use of member database.
- Ability to think strategically, proactively identify issues and generate recommendations.
- Superior organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and balance competing priorities; and reaching milestones on time without sacrificing accuracy and quality.
- Demonstrate strong writing and editing skills, effective verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working independently as well as proactively collaborating with AFA Staff
- Possesses vision, dedication to AFA mission, creativity, and comfortable interfacing with community with an entrepreneurial spirit are critical in this position.
