Job Description
Union-side labor and employment law firm located in lower Manhattan seeks a paralegal/legal assistant to work 5 days per week. The right applicant should be well organized, detail oriented, and capable of performing mathematical calculations and analysis in Excel. Responsibilities:
- Organizing, analyzing, and summarizing large sets of data in Excel, including bargaining unit demographic information and employee time and pay records;
- Creating analyses and projections of employment and economic data, in order to assist attorneys with labor contract negotiations;
- Calculating damage estimates in Excel;
- Prepare, proofread, and file legal papers;
- Assist with discovery, investigation, and research, among other activities;
- Manage and organize databases and case files;
- Interact with clients, courts, witnesses, and adversaries;
- Assist in other areas of our daily operations as needed.
Qualifications:
- A 4-year college degree
- Strong math and data management analysis skills
- Ability to learn and understand complex software
- Ability to handle and complete multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision
- Excellent typing, Microsoft Word and Excel skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills and an ability to prioritize
- Strong attention-to-detail, spelling and grammar skills
- Ability to think critically and analytically, and exhibit sound judgment
