Organization Overview
Established in 2021, Seaglass Village Inc. (SV) is a non-profit, member-led organization of active adults aged 50 and older residing in Marblehead, Nahant and Swampscott. (Expansion into Salem is under consideration.) We reimagine aging and community for older adults by supporting independent living. For an annual fee, members receive support from volunteers and have the opportunity to participate in social events.
The Board of Directors (BOD) is responsible for setting the goals, objectives and policies of SV. Members lead the committees that plan and implement social programs. Volunteers support our members by driving, shopping, doing small household tasks, providing tech assistance or just visiting.

Position Summary
The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for managing all day-to-day activities of the organization. A primary responsibility is to ensure that all services are provided to members in a timely, friendly and efficient way. The ED, SV’s only paid position, operates under the oversight of the BOD and reports to the BOD President.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain effective office systems, volunteer policies and membership records.
- Supervise volunteers and conduct orientation for new volunteers.
- Assure timely response to all member requests for services or assistance, providing direct response when volunteer help is not available.
- Assure the office is staffed a minimum of three mornings a week using the ED hours and volunteer support.
- Assist the treasurer with fiscal matters, including budget management, financial record keeping and filing required reports.
- Support the board in fundraising plans and activities, including grant writing and solicitation of donations.
- Attend monthly board meetings, provide monthly status updates and record and maintain board meeting minutes.
- Act as a liaison with other service organizations and local Councils on Aging; represent SV in the Village-to-Village network, a national, non-profit organization that provides support to more than 350 villages nationwide.
- Promote SV in the community through presentations and oversight of SV Facebook page.
- Other duties may be assigned from time to time by the Board of Directors.
- Qualifications and Experience
- Strong organizational, administrative and customer-service skills.
- Experience working in nonprofit organizations and with volunteers and the 50+ population.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Flexibility and willingness to collaborate.
- Knowledge of standard computer programs and open to learning organization-specific program.
- Tact, diplomacy and patience are essential; a sense of humor is helpful.
- Hours, Compensation and Location
- The position is part time, 20 hours a week.
- Compensation will be tailored to the successful candidate’s level of experience.
- Membership in networking organizations included and nominal continuing ed reimbursement, as appropriate.
- A combination of onsite (in the office at the First Church Swampscott) and remote work can be scheduled.
