The Office of Senator Ruben Gallego seeks a Policy Advisor to lead the Senator’s work on banking, housing, consumer financial protection, capital markets, and related issues. The Policy Advisor will also serve as the office's primary liaison to the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, coordinating the Senator's committee work and advancing the Senator's priorities before the Committee.

The ideal candidate will have expertise across one or more of these policy areas; 3–5 years of relevant congressional, executive branch, or related professional experience; strong judgment; and a demonstrated ability to translate complex policy issues into actionable advice. A proven track record of bipartisan legislative success is essential. Familiarity with Arizona’s economic landscape is a plus.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: advising the Senator on policy and legislative developments; developing, negotiating, and advancing legislation and other policy initiatives, with a focus on bipartisan solutions; preparing the Senator for hearings, markups, briefings, and other Committee activities; serving as the office’s primary point of contact with the Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee and relevant congressional offices; representing the Senator in meetings with constituents, industry representatives, advocates, and other stakeholders; and collaborating with stakeholders in Arizona and DC to advance the Senator’s policy priorities.

This is a full-time, in-person position based in Washington, D.C. Salary is commensurate with experience. Senator Gallego’s office is an equal opportunity employer.
