Job Description
The Office of Senator Ruben Gallego seeks a Policy Advisor to lead the Senator's work on energy, natural resources, Tribal affairs, water, environmental policy, agriculture, and animal welfare issues. The Policy Advisor will also serve as the office's primary liaison to the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, coordinating the Senator's committee work and advancing the Senator's priorities before the Committee. The ideal candidate will have expertise across one or more of these policy areas, congressional or executive branch experience, strong judgment, and a demonstrated ability to translate complex policy issues into actionable advice. Familiarity with Arizona's unique water, public lands, energy, and Tribal issues is a significant plus.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, advising the Senator on policy and legislative developments within the portfolio; developing and advancing legislative initiatives with a focus on bipartisan solutions; representing the Senator in meetings with constituents, Tribal governments, federal agencies, advocacy organizations, and industry stakeholders; and collaborating with partners in Arizona and Washington, D.C., to advance the Senator's policy priorities.
This is a full-time, in-person position based in Washington, D.C. Salary is commensurate with experience. Senator Gallego's office is an equal opportunity employer.
