The Team You’ll Work With
The Mayor’s Office of Operations works to make New York City government more effective and
efficient. The Office oversees the daily operations of City agencies, coordinates City initiatives, and
assists agencies in improving service quality and measuring performance to provide greater
accountability.
The Performance Management and Reporting team (PMR) within Operations monitors, reports, and
analyzes the performance of City agencies. The team guides agencies and staff on performance
reporting and management focused on improving public access and use of performance data. PMR also
collaborates with agencies to develop and enhance goals and indicators to explain data trends and
broaden the understanding of key metrics. In addition to producing semi-annual Mayor’s Management
Reports (MMR) and the digital Dynamic MMR reporting platform, the team conducts research on
trends and best practices in data-driven performance management and engages agencies on targeted
performance improvement projects. The Office of Operations is committed to achieving equity and

The Problems You’ll Solve
Working closely with the Deputy and Assistant Directors for Performance Management, the Policy
Analyst will be responsible for working with a team of senior policy analysts and advisors at
Operations, as well as in other City agencies, to articulate meaningful performance indicators. The
Policy Analyst will be responsible for a portion of the content of the twice-yearly Mayor’s Management
Report (MMR). Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Performance Reporting — Continually enhance the development and selection of key agency
- Help support the City’s existing systems for data collection and public reporting of
yearly MMR.
- Conduct research on performance indicators, agency-specific, initiative-specific, initiative-
related, and cross-agency/citywide.
- Examine and share best practices in agency-specific performance management systems.
- Performance Management — Engage with City agencies to assist with the development of
- Act as a liaison to agencies to track and monitor performance indicators.
- Coordinate with team members and agency partners to assist with the development of
performance indicators in accordance with a designated schedule. Facilitate the creation of
project plans, status reports, and associated deliverables.
- Interagency Coordination — Collaborate with Operations staff working with other City agencies on
- Analytical Support and Data Visualization, as needed.
- Work with Operations staff to quantitatively and qualitatively assess the performance of
City agency operations and initiatives to identify patterns and best practices. Support the
development of recommendations in the form of presentations, dashboards, reports, and
maps.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of policy advisors, designers, and other
development of strategies for technical analysis.
- Ensure timely and accurate distribution of critical information to senior staff.
About You
- You have a Bachelor’s Degree and two years of professional experience or six years of professional
and/or equivalent and relevant lived experience.
- You have the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy, transparency, and accountability in all

Salary
The City of New York Office of the Mayor’s compensation package includes a market competitive
salary, equity for all full-time roles and exceptional benefits. Our cash compensation for this role is
$59,116.
Final offers may vary from the amount listed based on candidate experience and expertise, and other
