Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade - Policy and Public Diplomacy Officer PN 11158 - LE5 Ongoing, Full Time USD $86,436-$97,296 Chicago, United States of America Submit your application through this website: https://dfatcareers.nga.net.au/cp About the position This position leads on political and economic reporting, public diplomacy, media (including social media) and economic diplomacy. This involves supporting the Consul-General’s engagement with Consulate contacts and developing your own contacts. It involves analysis and report writing. It involves visit coordination for visitors from Australia and for Consulate visits in the Midwest. This role also manages the Consulate-General’s Public Diplomacy program drawing on a modest funding allocation. This role works closely and collaboratively with corporate and client service colleagues in a small team. Because this is a broad portfolio of work as part of a small team, the position requires a high degree of adaptability and a wide range of skills. Remuneration package Salary USD $86,436-$97,296 Please note that new starters generally commence at the base of the salary range for the position and work their way through the five salary pay points through annual performance based increments. Performance Management Locally engaged staff engaged in an ongoing or fixed term capacity are eligible to participate in the performance management system. Staff who are employed on 31 March, are preforming at the required levels, and have worked in the role for at least 100 working days are eligible to receive a salary advancement of one increment OR a bonus of two percent if at the top of their level. Employment in the advertised position is dependent on the employee having or acquiring a valid DFAT probity check. Probity checks can take some time to process, and employment cannot be commenced until an appropriate check is confirmed. The inability to obtain a probity check prevents that applicant from being employed and loss of a probity check at any time will lead to termination of employment.
