Job Title: Policy Coordinator

Position Overview

The Policy Coordinator helps develop and execute the congressional campaign’s strategic policy agenda by translating the candidate’s vision into credible, actionable, and publicly defensible policy platforms. This role integrates policy development with rigorous research, legislative analysis, and quality control to ensure that all policy positions, messaging, and advocacy efforts are accurate, current, and grounded in authoritative sources.

The Policy Coordinator builds a team of campaign policy and research interns, manages research workflows, collaborates closely with communications, field, digital, and political teams, and assists in building coalitions with stakeholders and frontline communities to advance campaign goals. The role requires the ability to operate in a high-pressure political environment while maintaining standards of accuracy, analytical rigor, and strategic clarity.

Core Responsibilities

Policy Strategy & Platform Development

  • Develop and implement the campaign’s overall policy strategy, setting priorities and sequencing issue rollouts.
  • Translate the candidate’s vision into detailed policy platforms, proposals, and transition-ready frameworks.
  • Ensure policy priorities align with political strategy, community needs, and legislative feasibility.

Messaging & Narrative Integration

  • Partner with communications and digital teams to shape the campaign’s policy narrative and public framing.
  • Develop policy talking points, briefing memos, debate prep materials, and rapid-response issue guidance.
  • Ensure message discipline, factual accuracy, and consistency across all policy communications.

Research, Analysis & Legislative Tracking

  • Track congressional and state legislative activity, including hearings, bills, amendments, and conference actions.
  • Analyze regulatory developments and agency actions affecting priority policy areas.

Quality Control & Fact Checking

  • Lead fact-checking and quality assurance for all policy-related materials, including speeches, mail, digital content, and press statements.

Briefings, Consultations & Public Engagement

  • Prepare policy materials for briefings, stakeholder consultations, and candidate appearances.
  • Participate in meetings with subject-matter experts, community groups, and institutional stakeholders.
  • Capture feedback, emerging concerns, and opportunities to refine policy positions and strategy.
  • Complete questionnaires and endorsement applications

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Recruit, supervise, and mentor policy interns and fellows
  • Integrate policy operations with political, field, communications, and digital teams.
  • Participate in senior staff planning, crisis response, and rapid decision-making processes.

Crisis Response & Rapid Policy Support

  • Provide immediate policy analysis during breaking news, opposition attacks, or legislative developments.
  • Develop rapid-response guidance and defensible policy explanations for public and media use.
  • Anticipate vulnerabilities and prepare proactive policy defenses.

Key Skills & Experience

Required

  • Deep subject-matter expertise in one or more policy areas relevant to the campaign.
  • Strong understanding of legislative and regulatory processes at federal and/or state levels.
  • Demonstrated experience in political campaigns, government, legislative offices, policy research organizations, or advocacy institutions.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects, research workflows, and staff under tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional analytical, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Working usable laptop (NO CHROME NOTEBOOKS) 
  • Great attitude and competitive spirit!

Preferred

  • Prior experience managing policy or research teams.
  • Experience working directly with communications and digital teams on message development.
  • Familiarity with campaign finance and advocacy compliance considerations.
  • Experience producing legislative briefings, white papers, and policy memos for senior decision-makers.

Work Environment

This role operates in a fast-paced, high-pressure campaign environment requiring long hours, rapid turnaround, and continuous coordination across departments. Evening and weekend work is expected, particularly during legislative developments and peak campaign periods.
