SVLG Policy Fellow – Innovation (Emerging Technology & Regulation)


Help Guide the Rules of the Road for Tomorrow’s Technologies


The Silicon Valley Leadership Group (SVLG) is seeking a Summer Fellow to support our Innovation-focused work within our new Policy Fellowship Program. This fellowship will provide early-career professionals with hands-on experience addressing the fast-moving regulatory and policy challenges related to emerging technologies—AI, automated mobility, data privacy, antitrust, and digital assets—shaping the future of California’s innovation economy.


About the Fellowship

This fellowship is part of SVLG’s Policy Fellowship Program and is embedded in our Technology + Innovation Center of Expertise (COE). You’ll join a cross-functional cohort of fellows across other issue areas, supporting SVLG’s real-time advocacy, monitoring key regulatory developments and helping to shape the AI and innovation policy conversation.

  • Artificial Intelligence governance and deployment
  • Autonomous and connected mobility
  • Antitrust and competition frameworks
  • Data privacy and cybersecurity

Primary Responsibilities

  • Research and synthesize complex policy proposals and legislative trends
  • Draft bill briefs, internal memos, and stakeholder updates
  • Help shape SVLG responses to state and federal regulatory proposals
  • Support convenings with member companies and public officials
  • Track key hearings and provide rapid policy analysis

Ideal Candidate

This fellowship is ideal for current undergraduates or recent graduates seeking career paths in public policy, political science, law, or tech policy. Successful applicants will bring:

  • A strong interest in technology and its regulatory landscape
  • Relevant academic or internship experience in public policy, government, or research
  • The ability to translate complex topics into clear, actionable policy analysis
  • A team-oriented approach and willingness to learn in a dynamic environment

Fellowship Terms & Application Info

  • Length: 3–4 month terms (flexible start dates)
  • Structure: 1–2 fellows per issue area; cohort-based model
  • Compensation: Monthly stipend provided
