ABOUT THE ROLE
The Lukens Company (TLC) is an award-winning full-service direct response agency that is seeking a Political Copywriter to partner with our Political Practice. TLC's Political Practice specializes in voter contact, fundraising, and issue advocacy programs for Republican candidates, committees, and causes. The Political Copywriter will create compelling copy for our direct mail, digital fundraising campaigns, and voter contact efforts for our nationwide roster of valued clients.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
· Writing direct mail and email fundraising appeals for political campaigns, Republican Party committees, PACs, and grassroots lobbying organizations across the center-right spectrum
· In concert with our account and creative teams, brainstorming and creating voter-contact mail, video and telemarketing scripts, web copy, and other media aimed at voter persuasion/mobilization
· Collaborating with political team personnel on long-term strategies for successful direct mail campaigns
· Interacting with clients to ensure consistency of voice and messaging
WHAT WE’D LIKE TO SEE
A political junkie interested in helping Republican candidates, committees, and center-right advocacy organizations raise funds, win elections, and advance their missions. A lively wordsmith who understands the rules of grammar (and when to break them). Someone who can connect with GOP donors, inspiring immediate action and long-term loyalty. Sound like you? We also would like to see:
· 1-2 years of writing experience (preferably in direct response) with political campaigns, GOP committees, advocacy groups, PACs, or in an agency setting
· Excellent communication and writing skills
· Self-starter with a demonstrated capability to manage multiple projects, prioritize a variety of tasks, and think on your feet to meet ever-changing needs and deadlines
· Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
· Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with quick turnarounds
· Results-oriented and team-first attitude
· Inclination to learn and grow professionally
· Desire to work for a values-driven company that seeks to improve the world for the better
