Introduction
The Texas Climate Jobs Action Fund seeks an experienced and impactful Political Director who will help develop a groundbreaking, labor led political and advocacy program based on the needs and experiences of Texas workers and Texas communities at the intersection of climate, clean energy, and union jobs.
Overview of the Organization
The mission of Texas Climate Jobs Action Fund is to advocate for a pro-climate, pro-worker agenda in Texas. Through strategic communications and other c4 activities, Texas Climate Jobs Action Fund is shifting the narrative that it’s possible to be pro-worker and pro-climate in Texas.
The Job
The Political Director is a new leadership position at Texas Climate Jobs Action Fund. Responsibilities include:
- Strategic Communications: Develop and execute a comprehensive and strategic communications program to support 501(c)4 activities on behalf of Texas Climate Jobs Action Fund;
- Fundraising: Working with the executive director, help develop and execute a long-term fundraising strategy using both institutional and individual donations;
- Administration and Operations: Working with the Executive Director and administrative and operations staff and contractors to help support effective administrative and operations functions;
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Primary Characteristics and Experience
The Texas Climate Jobs Action Fund Political Director should be an experienced, passionate political professional with a deep commitment to a progressive economic agenda centered on the power of unions and working people to lead on economic and climate issues.
In addition, the Political Director should have:
- At least five years of work with unions, workers’ rights organization, or in a similar setting;
- Demonstrated track record of results in comprehensive lobbying, electoral, and/or issue-based campaigns, with communications experience a plus;
- Demonstrated track record of successful fundraising;
- In-depth knowledge and experience working within the labor movement, preferably in Texas;
- A deep commitment to building power alongside impacted workers and marginalized communities;
- An ability to work independently and juggle multiple priorities;
- Critical thinking and ability to think strategically about building and exercising power;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Ability to travel frequently to different areas of the state;
