- Generate exclusive scoops and original reporting that sets the Post apart
- Collaborate closely with Sunday editors and the broader politics team to shape story direction and coverage priorities
- Write clean, fast, and accurate copy on deadline
- Contribute to long-lead ideas and evergreen content with political relevance
- Stay attuned to the Post’s voice and sensibility, bringing smart angles and energy to each assignment

- Deep sourcing and strong news instincts in the Washington, D.C. political landscape
- Proven ability to generate ideas, break news, and pitch enterprising, original story concepts

- Comfortable working in a fast-paced newsroom and under tight deadlines
- Must be a self-starter who thrives both independently and as part of a collaborative team
