For half a century, the Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD) has been the liaison between the New York City government and the disability community. In partnership with City offices and agencies, MOPD ensures City initiatives, programs, and policies address the needs and interests of people with disabilities. The office regularly engages in advocacy and policymaking at the local, state, national, and international levels to make certain accessibility and full inclusion are key priorities for all public and private stakeholders alike.

The Team You’ll Work With:

The Problems You’ll Solve:
- Respond quickly to press inquiries on MOPD and/or on the Commissioner, working with the Chief of Staff and the Communication Director.
- Build relationships with reporters and share MOPD’s work and the diverse communities that we represent.
- Work closely with the Press teams in City Hall and other city agencies and ensure good communication and coordination.
- Respond quickly to constituent calls and triage the call to the appropriate city agency.
- Lead the internship process for MOPD.
- Active participation in MOPD Leadership meetings.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

- You have excellent communication and persuasion to disability rights organizations and other external stakeholders.
- You are a team player, a professional, and enjoy working in collaboration with others.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required.- 5+ years of experience.
Preferred Skills
- You have knowledge of disability rights and accessibility.

Residency Requirement
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
