Job Opening: Press & Digital Assistant

Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski (IL-13) is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Press & Digital Assistant to join a fast-paced communications team in Washington, D.C. This is an excellent opportunity for a creative, driven communicator eager to gain hands-on experience in congressional communications. The ideal candidate is a strong writer, visually creative, and highly organized, with a passion for digital storytelling.

Position Overview

This role is primarily focused on digital communications and content creation. The Press & Digital Assistant will work closely with the Communications Director to execute the office’s digital strategy, create engaging multimedia content, and support day-to-day press operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor, compile, and distribute daily press clips and media coverage
  • Design compelling digital and print graphics for social media, newsletters, and official communications
  • Draft, edit, and schedule content across platforms including Instagram, X, Facebook, and others
  • Edit and produce short-form video content for social media, press events, and constituent communications
  • Assist in developing and executing digital strategy and press outreach efforts
  • Maintain and update press lists; track and respond to media inquiries
  • Photograph events and support multimedia content creation
  • Provide additional communications and administrative support as needed

Qualifications

  • Previous Capitol Hill, internship, or political/advocacy communications experience preferred, but not required
  • Proficiency in graphic design and video editing tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, CapCut, or similar)
  • Strong writing, editing, and visual storytelling skills
  • Familiarity with social media analytics, trends, and best practices
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively

Salary Range: $55,000 – $60,000 annually
