Job Description
The Office of Representative Val Hoyle (OR-04) is hiring a creative and motivated part-time Press Intern to work in her Washington, D.C. office. This is a paid internship. The summer internship runs from May to early September, but the end date is flexible based on semester schedule.
The Press Intern will work closely with a highly productive and fast-paced communications team.
Responsibilities and educational opportunities include but are not limited to:
- Assisting in drafting social media content, including creating graphics and editing videos
- Compiling daily news clips
- Assisting in drafting press releases, monthly newsletters and other written materials
- Closely follow issues important to the Congresswoman on social media
- Assist with photography and filming
- Helping to maintain press lists
- Clipping committee remarks and cable hits
- Assisting with front office and administrative operations
- Answering phones
- Leading tours of the U.S. Capitol
The ideal applicant will have a strong interest in political communications and experience creating high quality graphics, videos and written products.
