Job Description


The Office of Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan (VA-04) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Press Intern to work in her Washington, DC office for the Spring 2027 term. This is a paid internship. The internship is intended for current undergraduate students, graduate students, and recent graduates interested in gaining invaluable congressional experience. Ideal candidates will have strong written communication skills, a working knowledge of graphic design software and best practices, and the ability to work in a fast-paced work environment. Candidates with Virginia ties are strongly encouraged to apply.

The Spring 2027 internship term runs from Mid-January through Mid-May. Exact start and end dates are negotiable. Internships are in-person and offered on a part-time and full-time basis to accommodate student schedules.

 Press Intern tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Drafting copy, designing graphics, and editing videos for traditional and digital media
  • Compiling daily press clips
  • Answering and screening phone calls
  • Maintaining press lists
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Communications Director or Press/Digital Assistant
