Congressman Joaquin Castro seeks a motivated Press Secretary for his Washington D.C. office. The ideal candidate will have strong writing and problem-solving skills, keen attention to detail, a resilient work ethic, and a demonstrated commitment to Democratic values.

This position will report to the Communications Director and will work closely with all members of the Congressman’s staff. Responsibilities include compiling daily press clips, drafting social media content, press releases, talking points, and other written materials, maintaining and updating press lists, working with district and national media to secure coverage of Congressman Castro’s priorities, and other duties as assigned.

This is not an entry-level job. To be considered, candidates should have at least 1-2 years of full-time experience in Democratic communications. The salary range for this position will likely start at $65,500 but may be higher or lower for candidates depending on experience.

San Antonio or Texas ties are a plus but not required. Candidates should be aware that this position will often require evening and weekend work.
