Senator Jeff Merkley seeks a Portland, OR-based Press Secretary. Primary responsibilities will include writing press releases, developing, executing and staffing in-state press events, establishing and maintaining relationships with reporters, editors and producers with media outlets throughout the state, and working with DC communications team to communicate to the Oregon audience, including digital media. Qualified candidates will have superior written and verbal communications abilities, significant communications and media relations experience, deep Oregon ties and an expert knowledge of Oregon media. This position will be based in the Senator’s Portland office, but will require significant travel throughout the State, including evening and weekend travel. Salary: Starting at $75,000 commensurate with experience, in addition to full federal health and retirement benefits, transportation subsidy and reimbursement for student loans in repayment.
