Job Description
Duties
The Office of Congresswoman Diana DeGette (CO-01) seeks a Press Secretary & Digital Director with extensive digital experience to be based in either her Washington, D.C. or district office in Denver, Colorado. The position reports directly to the Communications Director and is responsible for assisting in all aspects of the press shop’s day-to-day operations. This role will occasionally travel between Washington, D.C. and the district office.
Key responsibilities include:
- Write and design innovative social and digital content highlighting the Congresswoman’s district, legislative, and constituent service work.
- Collaborate closely with the Congresswoman, Communications Director, and staff to craft cohesive and engaging messaging across platforms.
- Serve as the primary photographer for the Congresswoman in D.C. or Denver, depending on where the role is based.
- Edit and maintain the Member’s website to include relevant updates, press releases, news, photos, and more.
- Draft and edit press releases, media advisories, statements, and daily press clips.
- Lead the creation of the weekly newsletter to highlight the Congresswoman’s official work.
- Support the Communications Director in responding to local and national media inquiries.
- Ensure all materials comply with House rules and communications regulations.
Qualifications
This is not an entry-level position. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of experience working with various digital platforms, maintaining websites, and managing social media accounts for a political candidate or elected official. Candidates should possess exceptional writing skills, have proficiency in photography (familiarity with DSLR cameras is a major plus), photo and video editing and graphic design tools, and be organized. Candidates should be detail-oriented and highly motivated to serve in a fast-paced environment. Our team values professionalism, positivity, strategic thinking, and good humor. Colorado or western state ties are a plus.
Salary & Benefits
The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $75,000 annually. Title and compensation are negotiable based on experience. Additionally, the Office provides a robust benefits package.
