Albany press office looking for a driven and hardworking individual to join our communications team as a Press Secretary. The ideal candidate should have a strong work ethic, excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, and be punctual. Applicants must be based in the Capital District area and able to work outside of normal office hours. Salary is commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with writing communications copy (e.g. press releases)
- Help implement communications projects and strategies
- Collecting data and maintaining databases
- Set up and break down press conferences
- Monitor media coverage on social media platforms
- Manage internal communications (memos, emails, mailing lists etc.)
- Generate ideas to gain more media coverage
Requirements:
- Strong communications skills, both written and oral
- Skilled at writing press releases and other PR related documents
- Ability to adapt to changing deadlines and schedules
- Skilled at writing press releases and other PR related documents
- Flexible and willing to work outside normal office hours
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in journalism/communications/public relations/political science preferred or related field and/or equivalent professional experience
- 4 to 5 years experience preferred in communications or government

Salary: $90,000-$100,000 per year
