Job Description
Congressman Henry Cuellar’s Washington, D.C. office is seeking a Press Secretary. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional writing and editing skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Drafting and editing press releases, op-eds, talking points, newsletters, social media content, graphics, and other communications materials.
- Managing and overseeing communications staff in both Washington, D.C. and the district.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with reporters, editors, producers, and other members of the media.
- Overseeing and managing the office’s franking operation and constituent communications in compliance with House rules and regulations.
- Collaborating with legislative and district staff to ensure consistent and effective communication of policy initiatives, constituent services, and district priorities.
- Managing and updating the Congressman’s official website and digital communications platforms.
Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage competing priorities.
- Prior communications experience on Capitol Hill, in government, or related fields preferred.
- Spanish proficiency highly desired, but not required.
