Job Description
Representative Seth Magaziner (RI-02) seeks a Fall Communications Intern for his Washington, DC, office.
In addition to handling standard front office responsibilities such as answering phones, greeting visitors, and conducting research, the individual in this role will work closely with the communications team to support their operations, which include drafting and sharing public-facing materials, managing press lists, and researching news outlets and social media trends. Qualified candidates should have strong writing skills and be willing to support the team with graphic design and video deliverables on short timelines
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Providing a welcoming environment and positive first impression of the Member’s office to constituents, visitors, and other VIPs;
- Drafting social media content and designing graphics
- Editing and captioning videos
- Compiling daily press clips
- Drafting press releases, media advisories, and remarks
- Answering incoming calls with poise, professionalism, and promptness;
- Sorting and distributing mail;
- Attending briefings and hearings, conducting legislative research, and drafting correspondence and memoranda;
- Assisting Member and key staff (e.g. Staff Assistant, Operations Director, Chief of Staff) with logistical and administrative duties;
- Receiving and logging constituent correspondence on policy matters for the Member’s consideration and response;
- Assisting with tours of the Capitol.
The Fall internship runs from August through December, with flexible start and end dates.
