Position Overview

Aviv seeks to hire an enthusiastic Program Associate to join our professional team. The successful candidate will have strong strategic, relational, research, and operational skills and prior experience with not-for-profit organizations and/or socially-oriented endeavors. The Program Associate will support the team to build, manage, and monitor a portfolio of grants and contribute to the development and implementation of our strategies and planning. The Program Associate will engage with all of Aviv’s organizational and strategic efforts, working in close partnership with our Board and professional team, while also operating with autonomy. We intend to create advancement opportunities for the Program Associate, with this role potentially serving as an opportunity to learn and grow into more senior philanthropic leadership positions.

Responsibilities

The Program Associate will have diverse responsibilities, including:

  • Researching trends, challenges, and leading organizations across Aviv’s areas of investment, and applying learnings to strategic and grantmaking decisions;
  • Reviewing and analyzing grant applications and reports, and providing feedback to guide recommendations for Aviv’s Board;
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with grantees, related organizations, other foundations, and Aviv’s Board;
  • Creating clear, concise, and insightful written materials, presentations, and other materials for the Board and senior staff;
  • Continuously learning about Aviv’s areas of investment through attending meetings, events, conferences, and conducting research;
  • Assisting with event planning and other foundation-wide functions; and
  • Identifying potential opportunities to partner with practitioner and external funding organizations, and representing the Foundation at conferences and meetings.

Qualifications and Experiences

The Program Associate should be entrepreneurial, flexible, curious, and passionate about Aviv’s goals. Specific qualifications include:

  • A bachelor’s degree and four to six years relevant experience, ideally within foundations, nonprofit organizations, or corporate responsibility;
  • A commitment to advance Aviv’s mission and values;
  • Strong written, oral, and listening skills;
  • Analytical and research abilities necessary to evaluate grants and to collect and evaluate data required;
  • Cultural competence to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds;
  • Exceptional relationship management skills;
  • Commitment to quality, accuracy, and thoroughness, and willingness to be hands-on whenever necessary;
  • Honed research and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally upon occasion, and
  • A sense of humor, patience, flexibility, and warmth.
