SUMMARY
The Affordable Housing Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating our nonprofit activities, events, and projects that improve families’ ability to secure safe, stable, affordable housing. This role focuses on program development, conducting needs assessments, building partnerships, and developing action plans for progressing our housing programs. The coordinator works with partners, service providers, and community stakeholders to ensure programs address both immediate needs and long term housing security goals. This is a part time 1099 contract position for approximately 10 hours per week through March 30, 2027. You MUST reside in the Washington DC metropolitan area to be considered.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Coordinate and manage affordable housing programs in alignment with organizational goals and community priorities.
- Review existing program plans and further develop them for grant effectiveness.Build and maintain strong relationships with housing agencies, nonprofit partners, landlords, and community groups.
- Create and maintain an updated list of affordable housing resources, including existing programs, potential partners, eligibility guidelines, and referral processes.
- Assist individuals and families in navigating housing applications, subsidies, and support services.
- Collaborate with community partners to identify and address barriers to housing stability.
- Plan and facilitate educational workshops regarding tenants’ rights, budgeting for housing, available assistance programs, and other support programs.
- Track and evaluate program outcomes, using data to strengthen and improve housing initiatives.
- Support grant writing, reporting, and budget monitoring for housing-related programs.
- Represent the organization at housing-related coalitions, advocacy groups, and community meetings.
- Ensure all programs align with the organization’s mission and are culturally responsive to the populations served.
- Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in public administration, community development, or related field preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 2 years of experience in housing programs, case management, or community resource coordination is preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Able to sit or stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs occasionally.
- May involve occasional evening or weekend hours for events or community outreach.
- This is a remote position. Washington DC area candidates only as occasional in-person attendance may be required for staff meetings, events, or community outreach. The Program Coordinator is expected to maintain a productive home workspace with reliable internet access.
