Community Options, Inc. is a national non-profit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 12 states.
We are seeking a Full-Time Program Specialist in Manhattan, NY. The Program Specialist is responsible for ensuring Community Options, Inc. (COI) is in compliance with all aspects and levels of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and standards within the realm of billing. This person will collect Medicaid reimbursements by resolving discrepancies, adjusting claims, preparing reports, monitoring collections, and providing excellent customer service to internal staff and designated payers.
Starting pay is $ 31.25/per hour
Responsibilities
- Process initial claims from Therap or other applicable billing platforms by the process of examining, calculating, and or adjusting claims
- Submit claims to payers manually or electronically
- Maintain, develop, and update essential billing records
- Monitor filing deadlines for each designated payer and ensure processing is completed in that timeframe
- Gather both private and Medicaid billing information by reviewing consumer records
- Prepare progress reports for individuals’ immediate support group, including their family and/or guardian, staff, employment specialist, case manager, and other professionals
- Serve as an active member of an individuals’ Inter-Disciplinary Team (IDT), which includes involvement in Individual Habilitation Plan development
- Submit monthly written reports to the appropriate individuals outlining operational status, progress, and concerns
- Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned
- Employee must cooperate with the license and department staff in any inspection, inquiry, or investigation
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of checks of criminal background, central registry, child abuse registry, and drug testing
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with one year of related experience; OR high school diploma or GED with three years of related experience
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
- Complete all state and agency required training per state guidelines
- Team-oriented with demonstrated leadership experience
- Experience with problem solving against multiple priorities
- Ability to exercise good judgment and remain calm in crisis situations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
