PURPOSE:

The “I Have A Dream” Foundation of Boulder County is currently seeking a Program Specialist to support dreamer scholars and their families by providing after school programming. Depending on the location, this position might work with one of our 11 cohorts. This is a full-time, hourly position with benefits, and reports to the Program Manager 


The mission of the “I Have A Dream” program is to empower children from under-resourced communities (Dreamer Scholars) to succeed in school, college, and career by providing academic, social, and emotional support from elementary school through college, along with post-secondary tuition assistance.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communication & Collaboration: Maintain open, timely communication with volunteers, students, families, and school personnel; coach volunteers on program goals and IHDF values.
  • Team Leadership: Lead volunteer teams and escalate management issues to the Program Director.
  • Student Support: Build trusted relationships with Dreamer Scholars, providing consistent social and emotional support and positive outreach.
  • Emotional Intelligence: Navigate diverse emotional states professionally, maintaining self-regulation and seeking guidance when needed to support program quality.
  • Data & Logistics: Track attendance and academic achievement to support student outcomes and safely operate company vehicles.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Community Experience: Experience working with historically underrepresented communities.
  • Relationship-Based Approach: Strong application of relationship-based frameworks to support effective problem-solving, conflict resolution, and professional boundary setting.
  • Youth Work: 1-2 years of experience working with youth.
  • Framework Knowledge: Strong knowledge of asset-based frameworks within the context of youth and community development.
  • Communication & Organization: Strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills, with meticulous record-keeping abilities.
  • Transportation: Reliable transportation, current auto insurance, and a clean driving record.
  • Availability: Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.



PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Bilingual Proficiency: Conversational and written Spanish skills are highly valued.
  • Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively with diverse teams and community partners.
  • Group Facilitation: Strong experience facilitating engaging programming for groups.
  • Inclusive Programming: Skilled in creating safe, inclusive environments where youth and families can thrive.
  • Problem-Solving: Adept at navigating complex situations with emotional intelligence and a solutions-focused mindset.

PHYSICAL AND COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Transportation: Ability and willingness to undergo training to operate a 14-passenger minibus.
  • Flexibility: Available for occasional evenings, weekends, and conference travel.


Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary range $20.00-25.00/hour
