POSITION SUMMARY:

Huckleberry Youth Programs is seeking a Project READY (Reconnecting, Educating, and 

 Achieving Dreams for Youth) PR is a school based juvenile justice prevention program supporting middle school students transition into high school. Our program provides case management, family engagement, groups, field trips and summer programming focused on supporting youth with their academic and social-emotional skill development. Youth participants are referred from our partner schools when they are struggling with their academic and/or behavioral performance. The ultimate goal is to support them during their 8th grade year with well rounded collaborative support to help them have a successful transition into high school. The Program Manager oversees the day to day operations of the program and provides direct supervision to the team. The Project READY Program Manager is responsible for ensuring that the program is meeting or exceeding its programmatic goals and understands the contracts associated with the program. 


Essential Functions: 

Supervision

  • Provide day to day oversight of the program including hiring, training, supervision, support and evaluation of staff. 
  • Coordinate and participate in program components including weekly team meetings, groups, family workshops, outreach, recruitment, and out of school activities. 
  • Co-create and implement professional development growth plans with each staff & the team.
  • Act as liaison to the school partner sites, administration and program staff. 
  • Participate in regular supervision with the Director of Youth Justice and attend agency meetings.
  • Partner with the HYP Clinical Director to supervise & support the program therapist.
  • Develop and maintain staff schedules.
  • Serve as a member of the HYP Management Team as assigned.

Documentation

  • Provide continuous audits of data entry, documentation & program assessments, timely follow-up and follow-through of staff and ensure database and data entry is accurate and complete.
  • Supervise, coordinate and review data & documentation for all program services & activities.  
  • Help enter in data & documentation in relation to recruitment, school-wide offerings, events/groups, youth & family engagement. 

Program Development

  • Research, develop, review and modify programming curriculum and all programmatic services.
  • Ensure high quality of services by conducting frequent observation of activities and conduct regular data inquiry and review. 
  • Assist in writing progress reports and other Project READY status reports to funders and partners.
  • Assist in co-creating a Project READY training manual including policies and procedures.

Community Outreach

  • Establish & maintain relationships with the San Francisco Unified School District and the teachers & administration working at Willie Brown and Martin Luther King Jr. middle schools. 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other school officials and personnel as necessary to plan and implement recruitment, groups, weekly meetings, and contract outcomes.
  • Network, through meetings and joint projects with other community based organizations/youth service providers and represent HYP in the community.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

This position operates out of the Huckleberry Gough St. offices with frequent visits to school & community partner sites. Staff will continue some hybrid work including remote & in-person service delivery. This role routinely includes driving and the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The Huckleberry Gough site is located in San Francisco and is accessible by public transportation.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee must be able to lift and/or carry up to 10 pounds unassisted on an occasional basis. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear and sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and use hands to find, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to drive a vehicle.

Required Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in social work, human/social services or related field.
  2. Minimum 1-3 yrs previous experience working with a school environment and case management intervention strategies with adolescents.
  3. Minimum two (2) years previous management/supervision experience.
  4. Prior experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds using a youth development approach. 
  5. Experience in curriculum development, project design, implementation and evaluation.   
  6. Thorough knowledge of community based agencies serving adolescents in San Francisco is a plus.
  7. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to problem solve quickly and calmly in a crisis.
  8. Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently as well as be able to work cohesively in a culturally diverse team environment. 
  9. Excellent analytical thinking skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, organization, planning, research, and budget skills.


PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

1. Masters Degree in social work, human/social services, counseling, or related field

2. Bilingual capability (Spanish or Cantonese) strongly preferred.

3. Previous experience coordinating youth services within a school culture.


ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS:

1. TB clearance

2. Valid CA driver’s license, clear DMV record, and reliable transportation.

3. Fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

1. Must pass the DOJ/FBI background check. Due to our requirements with licensing, candidates with backgrounds including items on this non-exemptible crimes list will not be eligible for exemption at this time.
