Public Affairs Internship Program
Internship Title: Public Affairs Intern (PPFL)

Overview
The Public Affairs Internship Program at Planned Parenthood of Florida offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in advocacy, organizing, policy, data, digital advocacy, and nonprofit operations. Interns will be placed within a specific Public Affairs subdepartment based on their interests, academic background, and organizational needs.
This is an unpaid internship available to students enrolled in an accredited learning institution. Some evening and weekend availability may be required.
Public Affairs Internship Opportunities
Organizing
Overview
Organizing Interns support community engagement efforts, volunteer mobilization, campaign activities, and grassroots organizing initiatives.
Sample Projects
- Support volunteer recruitment and retention efforts
- Assist with and participating in phone banks, canvassing, and advocacy events
- Coordinate event logistics and participant communications
- Conduct outreach to community partners and student organizations
- Support campaign implementation and engagement strategies

What We Need
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Consistent in-person (preferred) or virtual meetings with your Regional Organizer
- Interest in community organizing
- Comfort in communicating verbally and online with volunteers and supporters
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Applicants must reside within the geographic region served by the assigned Regional Organizer.

Policy
Overview
Policy and Research Interns assist in monitoring legislation, conducting policy analysis, and developing educational and advocacy materials.

- Monitor hearings and legislative developments
- Support issue-based campaigns

Qualifications
Students must have an arrangement with a learning institution to be eligible for an internship.
Applicants should possess:

- Interest in reproductive health, rights, and advocacy
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite preferred
- Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends
- Willingness to travel when necessary
- Commitment to Planned Parenthood's mission

Hours
Hours will be determined in coordination with the student's learning institution.
Minimum: 10 hours per week
Maximum: 40 hours per week
Compensation
This is an unpaid internship. Mileage and approved travel expenses may be reimbursed when applicable.
