The Public Engagement Specialist serves as a primary community representative for Congressman Greg Stanton and plays a central role in connecting the office to constituents, stakeholders, and local leaders across Arizona’s Fourth Congressional District. This position ensures that district-level concerns and priorities are elevated to the Congressman and senior staff, while also helping deliver resources and support back to the community.

The role requires frequent public speaking, strong relationship-building skills, and a demonstrated passion for politics and current events. The Public Engagement Specialist is a highly visible position that represents the Congressman at events, supports district-level strategy, and fosters trusted partnerships across the East Valley.

Core Responsibilities

Community Engagement & Representation

  • Represent the Congressman at community meetings, civic events, and public forums when he or senior staff are unavailable.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, advocacy groups, nonprofit organizations, and constituents.
  • Serve as a liaison to federal, state, and local officials and agencies on behalf of the Congressman.

Constituent Services & Issue Monitoring

  • Track local issues, trends, and developments; provide timely updates and recommendations to the Congressman and Director of Public Engagement.
  • Recognize and facilitate constituent concerns that may require legislative action, casework support, or additional oversight.
  • Assist in resolving community issues in coordination with casework and legislative staff.

Event Planning & Strategic Coordination

  • Plan, organize, and execute district events, including roundtables, town halls, and community forums.
  • Support the Congressman’s in-district schedule to ensure events align with legislative priorities and communications strategy.
  • Collaborate with Washington, D.C., staff to ensure district concerns inform legislative work.

Media & Communications Support

  • Track local media coverage and social media content related to constituent priorities.
  • Provide regular briefings to the Director of Public Engagement and communications team.
  • Ensure consistent messaging and professionalism in all external engagements.

District Travel & Availability

  • Travel regularly throughout the East Valley to maintain visibility and engagement.
  • Work occasional evenings and weekends as needed to support community events and office priorities.

Minimum Qualifications (Required)

  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Strong written, verbal, and public speaking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to work independently as a self-starter while contributing to a collaborative team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated commitment to constituent service, politics, and current events.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Event planning or campaign experience.
  • Familiarity with Arizona’s Fourth Congressional District and/or the East Valley.
  • Congressional, political, nonprofit, or public service experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.

Working Conditions

  • Based in the district office with frequent travel throughout the East Valley and the broader district.
  • Requires work outside standard business hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Occasional travel to Washington, D.C. may be required.

Base Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
