Job Description
Meta seeks an experienced professional to support the company’s state public policy and government relations efforts. Candidates will be responsible for political engagement and issue advocacy with a demonstrated experience working on technology policy issues. This position will report to the Public Policy Director, Northeast, United States. Frequent travel is required.
Responsibilities
- Identify, monitor, and analyze state and local legislative and regulatory proposals across the eastern U.S. that affect Meta's products, platforms, and business operations
- Develop and execute advocacy strategies to advance Meta's policy positions on technology issues including privacy, AI regulation, content moderation, and platform accountability
- Represent Meta before state legislatures, executive branch agencies, and regulatory bodies across the eastern U.S. region
- Build and maintain relationships with elected officials, legislative staff, regulatory agencies, and key political stakeholders across the region
- Engage coalitions of chambers of commerce, trade associations, civil society organizations, and community groups to advance shared policy priorities
- Provide strategic analysis and policy briefings to internal leadership on legislative developments, political risks, and advocacy opportunities in the region
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners including legal, communications, and product policy teams to align regional advocacy with company-wide policy strategy
- Manage contract lobbyists, consultants, and trade association relationships to extend Meta's advocacy reach across Eastern states
- Contribute to organizational goal-setting by identifying long-term policy risks and opportunities and recommending proactive engagement strategies
- Leverage AI tools to streamline policy monitoring, stakeholder research, and briefing preparation workflows to improve efficiency and output quality
Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in public policy, government affairs, advocacy, or a related field with a focus on state or federal government engagement
- Experience developing and executing advocacy campaigns targeting state legislatures or executive branch agencies, including achieving measurable policy or political milestones
- Experience engaging and managing relationships with a broad range of stakeholders including policymakers, trade associations, and civil society organizations
- Experience communicating complex technology or regulatory policy concepts to diverse audiences including government officials, internal leadership, and external partners
- Experience working cross-functionally across legal, communications, or product teams to align policy strategy with business objectives
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
- Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
- Experience working on technology policy issues such as privacy, artificial intelligence regulation, content governance, or platform policy at the state or federal level
- Established relationships with policymakers, legislative staff, or regulatory officials across eastern U.S. states, including New York State
- Experience managing contract lobbyists and coordinating multi-state advocacy efforts through trade associations or coalitions
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to redesign policy monitoring, stakeholder engagement, or briefing workflows and deliver measurable efficiency or quality improvements
Compensation
- $153,000/year - $224,000/year; Country: US; Bonus eligible; Equity eligible
