Job Description

Travis County Democratic Party (TCDP) is hiring a Regional Organizer to recruit, train, and develop grassroots leaders across the county. Working with TCDP’s organizing team and precinct chairs, the Regional Organizer will be responsible for building grassroots leadership capacity in a portion of Travis County’s 287 precincts as part of our year-round organizing strategy. The Regional Organizer will also be responsible for leading TCDP’s broader community engagement strategies in their assigned precincts, including community events, service projects, Democratic clubs, and engaging with local schools, social service organizations, congregations, and higher education institutions. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Build precinct level organizing teams in assigned Super Precincts by identifying, recruiting, training, and developing grassroots leaders within assigned precincts.

  • Conduct one-on-one meetings within assigned Super Precincts with:

  • Potential grassroots leaders, Precinct Chairs, Super Precinct Chairs

  • Community leaders, principals, leaders in non-profit and social service organizations, higher education institutions

  • Provide organizing trainings to precinct chairs and grassroots leaders.

  • Represent TCDP at community events, celebrations, service events, etc., (this includes organizing grassroots leaders from within local precincts to represent TCDP as well).

  • Work with Precinct Chairs to recruit Sustaining Donors for organization.

  • Work as part of TCDP team to organize events and fundraisers, always pulling in new leaders to planning, etc.

  • During election year, work in conjunction with TCDP’s Coordinated Campaign to elect Democrats at all levels. This includes door to door canvassing.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Desire and openness to learn how to identify, train, and develop grassroots leaders in all parts of the county, and of all backgrounds.

  • Willingness to inspire and motivate others, as well as work collaboratively with peers, volunteers, direct reports, and stakeholders. 

  • Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed goals.

  • A strong and demonstrated commitment to building a diverse and inclusive team. 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Reliable transportation is required for travel throughout the county.


Salary: Starting salary $57,500.


Benefits:  The Travis County Democratic Party offers medical, vision, and dental insurance. Employee’s insurance premiums are paid fully by TCDP. Travel stipends available.


Location: Most work will take place within the community, including organizing within precincts, at TCDP and community events, as well as in-person at TCDP’s headquarters in East Austin. Some occasional remote work.
