Position Summary

The Republican Governors Association (RGA) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Regional Press Secretary to support and execute strategic communications efforts on behalf of Republican governors and gubernatorial candidates. This role will serve as a key communications liaison for designated states to advance the RGA’s messaging and rapid response objectives in the 2026 election cycle. Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary press contact for assigned states and regional communications efforts

  • Develop and execute proactive media strategies to promote Republican governors’ records and priorities

  • Draft and distribute press releases, statements, op-eds, talking points, and media advisories

  • Monitor media coverage and political developments within the region and provide daily briefings and analysis

  • Lead rapid response efforts for region 

  • Assist with message development, research, and communications efforts

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of experience in political communications, public relations, campaigns, or a related field

  • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to produce clear, compelling, and accurate content under tight deadlines

  • Demonstrate understanding of the political media landscape and Republican policy priorities

  • Experience working with press, campaigns, elected officials, or advocacy organizations preferred

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience working for a governor’s office, political campaign, or national political committee

  • Regional or state-level media experience

  • Familiarity with rapid response operations and opposition research
