Reports to: Deputy Research Director


Position Summary:

The Research Department at the DCCC conducts opposition research projects, rapid response, proactive attacks on Republican incumbents and challengers, and helps campaigns understand policy issues, with debate preparation, and other campaign activities. In this fast-paced office, the ability to multi-task while remaining detail-oriented is a must. If you love to get to the bottom of complex issues, make yourself into the best-informed expert on a topic, and hold Republicans accountable, this job may be for you.


Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Producing extensive research documents compiling information from public sources including news clips, campaign finance disclosures, travel records and receipts, personal financial disclosures, property, court, and business records, TV, radio and digital media, and research databases, as well as in-depth research analyzing federal, state and local governmental voting records;
  • Conducting on-location research, requiring the willingness to occasionally travel on short notice (as conditions permit);
  • Other duties and research projects as needed.

Required Skills:

  • Possess the initiative to work independently, follow through on all projects and meet strict deadlines while remaining highly detail-oriented;
  • Self-motivation, as well as a strong commitment to teamwork;
  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal communications skills;
  • Experience in analyzing primary source documents;
  • Familiarity with Lexis-Nexis, campaign finance or public records, and/or other commonly-used research databases a plus.
  • Spanish proficiency is a plus, but not required.
  • Previous opposition research experience preferred.
