SPARK is a national research study supported by the Simons Foundation that aims to recruit, engage and retain a community of 50,000 individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and their family members living in the United States. Participation in SPARK involves contribution of medical and behavioral information online, mailing in saliva for genetic analysis, the option to have genetic findings related to autism returned, and consenting to be invited to participate in future research studies through the research match program. When and if SPARK identifies a genetic cause for a participant's autism, the individual and their family are also invited to join Simons Searchlight, a sister research study focused on genetically defined communities.

Reporting to the Senior Program Manager, the Research Assistant is responsible for supporting general study operations - both centrally and through a network of Clinical Sites, focused on recruitment, retention and participant engagement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Working with the SPARK clinical team, support the ongoing maintenance and updating of key program metrics for recruitment, retention and engagement.
  • Support the Help Desk team in their efforts to guide and support participants to complete online study enrollment, return their kits and engage in study tasks.
  • Support the Clinical Site team in their work with a network of 30+ clinical sites in the areas of recruitment and data entry / upload.
  • Working with the clinical team leads, support the development, implementation and evaluation of outreach strategies for all non-clinical site affiliated participants.
  • Working with the director of research operations, support the development, implementation and evaluation of strategies to reduce loss-to-follow-up and build long-term participant retention and engagement.
  • Provide additional Helpdesk support during high-volume periods or as needed.
  • Perform any other duties or tasks as assigned or required.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education
  • Bachelor's degree


Experience
  • Two to four years of experience in a research assistant capacity
  • Experience in an academic and/or clinical research environment preferred

  • Passion for helping others
