Job Description
Research Manager, Extreme Wealth Center (Contract)
Extreme Wealth Center (EWC) is building public understanding of extreme wealth concentration and advancing wealth tax policy to reduce the power of the ultra-wealthy. We're seeking a Research Manager to manage our research strategy, deepen our analytical foundation, and ensure our work is grounded in rigorous evidence about the causes and consequences of extreme wealth. The Research Manager will shape how EWC understands and communicates the economic, political, and social dimensions of extreme wealth concentration. You'll manage our research portfolio, help identify new lines of inquiry, and serve as the bridge between the academic and policy research community and our work.
Responsibilities
- Working alongside the leadership team, manage ongoing research projects, including timelines, deliverables, and relationships with external researchers and partner organizations
- Help generate ideas for new original research that advances our strategic priorities and fills gaps in the existing literature
- Partner closely with the communications team to help translate complex research into accessible content for journalists, policymakers, advocates, and the public
- Build and manage a research library that curates, organizes, and synthesizes existing work on wealth concentration, extreme wealth, and wealth taxation
- Cultivate and steward relationships with economists, sociologists, tax policy experts, and research institutions working in this space
- Where appropriate, communicate research findings to a broad group of stakeholders
Qualifications
- 5–6 years of experience developing or synthesizing research on economic policy, with a particular focus on wealth concentration, inequality, or tax policy
- Strong understanding of the drivers and consequences of extreme wealth concentration, including familiarity with the academic and policy literature
- Demonstrated ability to consolidate and interpret complex research and translate findings for non-academic audiences
- Existing relationships with researchers, academics, and institutions working on wealth inequality
- Strong project management skills and the ability to move multiple research streams forward simultaneously
- Comfort working collaboratively with a communications team and translating research into campaign-usable formats
