Please note: The anticipated hiring range for this position (LSA I, Grade N18) will be $64,104 to $83,460, based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The Office of Montgomery County Councilmember At-Large Laurie-Anne Sayles seeks a highly organized, responsive, and discreet professional to serve as Scheduler and Administrative Aide (Legislative Sr. Aide I). This position manages the Councilmember's calendar and engagement logistics, serves as a primary point of contact for scheduling requests, helps ensure the Councilmember is fully prepared for each commitment, and supports responsive service to residents and community partners across Montgomery County.
The successful candidate will understand that every calendar decision affects the Councilmember's ability to lead, legislate, serve constituents, and remain present throughout a County of more than one million residents. The role requires careful prioritization, timely communication, excellent follow-through, and the confidence to make sound recommendations while keeping the Councilmember and Chief of Staff informed.
Position Duties
Specific job responsibilities include:
- Manage and strategically coordinate the Councilmember’s calendar, including meetings, community events, speaking engagements, briefings, travel, and preparation time.
- Evaluate and prioritize scheduling requests based on office priorities, constituent impact, logistics, and the Councilmember’s availability.
- Coordinate meeting and event logistics, including invitations, RSVPs, briefing materials, speaking roles, transportation, and follow-up.
- Prepare daily schedules and maintain a forward-looking calendar to identify conflicts, deadlines, preparation needs, and upcoming decisions.
- Serve as a professional point of contact for constituents, community organizations, government partners, and other stakeholders.
- Support constituent casework by documenting requests, coordinating with County agencies and office staff, and tracking matters through resolution.
- Maintain accurate calendars, scheduling records, contact lists, trackers, and other administrative systems.
- Provide administrative and operational support, including occasional evening and weekend community events and special projects.
- Work closely with the Chief of Staff and office team to ensure strong communication, timely follow-through, and effective office operations.

This position requires the ability to attend meetings or perform work at locations outside the office, including some evenings and weekends.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience: One (1) year of progressively responsible experience in legislative research, communications or administrative professional level experience in a subject area relevant to local government administration.
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree.
Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Other Qualifications
The applications of those individuals meeting the minimum qualifications will be reviewed to determine the extent, relevance of training, and experience in the following areas:
- Experience supporting an elected official, executive, or senior leader.
- Experience managing a high-volume calendar and competing priorities.
- Experience coordinating meetings, events, travel, and briefing materials.
- Experience with constituent service, government operations, or community engagement.
- Familiarity with Montgomery County and its diverse communities.

Free Mass Transit Benefit
