Job Description
The Office of Congressman Jimmy Gomez (CA-34) is seeking a highly motivated, experienced Scheduler to join our team. This is not an entry-level role. This role is based in Washington, DC. We are a fast-paced, high-performing office looking for someone who thrives under pressure, takes pride in precision, and brings energy, optimism, and grit to the job every day.
This is one of the most critical roles in the office. The Scheduler is the hub of the operation: managing the Member’s time, coordinating all travel, and ensuring that a complex, constantly shifting schedule runs seamlessly.
We are looking for someone who finds the challenge of a packed, unpredictable schedule exciting. The right candidate is solutions-oriented, relentlessly organized, and energized by last-minute changes, whether that’s reshuffling a full day due to votes, locking in a high-priority interview, or reworking travel plans on the fly.
You should be someone who picks up the phone to get answers, follows up to close loops, and takes ownership of making sure nothing falls through the cracks. You are a strong collaborator who communicates clearly, keeps the team aligned, and helps drive a high-performing operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and execute the Member’s daily and long-term schedule for both DC and the District with precision and urgency
- Serve as Special Assistant to the Member, supporting day-to-day operations and needs
- Coordinate all official travel end-to-end, including flights, hotels, ground transportation, and rapid adjustments as plans change
- Drive as needed and manage rental cars and on-the-ground logistics during travel
- Prepare and deliver clear, concise daily schedule briefings
- Receive, triage, and respond to all scheduling requests with sound judgment
- Coordinate closely with the Chief of Staff, DCOS, and Member to prioritize and finalize scheduling decisions
- Gather and synthesize all relevant background and logistics for meetings and events
- Communicate real-time updates and changes to the Member and staff throughout the day
- Manage incoming calls, track messages, and ensure timely follow-up
- Assisting the Deputy Chief of Staff with office operations and liaising with the Architect of the Capitol, Superintendent's Office, and Tech Partners Program to ensure regular office maintenance/technology assistance as necessary
- Serve as Office Travel Coordinator and Alternate Emergency Coordinator
- Track expenses and work with the financial administrator on reconciliations and reimbursements
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to work outside regular business hours and manage schedules across multiple time zones
- Prior congressional and/or scheduling experience required
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a high-pressure environment
- Strong judgment, communication skills, and follow-through
- A proactive mindset: someone who anticipates problems and solves them quickly
- Positive, team-oriented attitude with a strong work ethic
- Campaign and/or political experience preferred, but not required
- Familiarity with Los Angeles and Southern California is preferred, but not required
Salary: $60,000 – $70,000, commensurate with experience. Eligible for transit benefits and student loan repayment assistance. Additional benefits to be discussed.

People of color and people from underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.
