Job Description
The Office of U.S. Representative Dan Goldman (D-NY-10) is seeking to hire a detail-oriented, reliable, and organized Scheduler OR Operations Director.
This position is responsible for managing the Member’s daily and long-term schedule, including organizing and tracking invitations, scheduling requests, and public engagements for the Member; coordinating travel arrangements; and keeping the Member on schedule throughout the day. Additional responsibilities include compiling the Member’s daily briefing materials, as well as other administrative duties, as assigned.
Candidates should demonstrate the ability to prioritize multiple projects at once, follow through on requests, have strong attention to detail, and communicate well with team members and external stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Prepares the daily schedule and daily memos for the Congressman.
- Drafts monthly projected schedules for the Congressman.
- Briefs the Congressman on all scheduling activities and requests of the Washington, D.C. and district offices.
- Coordinates scheduling of press, interviews, radio and television time with the communications team.
- Makes reservations for the Congressman's air travel, ground transportation, and lodging.
- Submits all official travel expenses to the office's finance administrator.
- Responds to all invitations, either by written correspondence or by personal telephone call.
- Maintains files of invitations that have been declined, accepted, or that are tentative/pending.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working in a fast-paced, detail oriented environment.
- Experience organizing a schedule or serving as an executive assistant is preferred.
- At least one year working in a congressional office is a plus.
- 2-3 years of professional working experience is preferred.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills and judgment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to prioritization of and recommendations on appointments.
- Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with others.
This is not an entry-level position. The annual salary range for this position is $60,000-$80,000 dependent on experience and qualifications.
