Job Description
Northeast Democratic Senator is seeking a Scheduling Assistant with immediate availability. The Scheduling Assistant will report to the Director of Scheduling & Operations and work alongside the Special Assistant & Scheduler to support the senator’s daily schedule in DC.
Key responsibilities include:
- Processing incoming invitations and scheduling requests in coordination with the Scheduling team, senior personal office staff, and senior Committee staff.
- Ensuring schedule details are accurate, including confirmation of locations, staff assignments, and preparatory materials.
- Maintaining accurate schedule records and executive correspondence archival systems.
- Booking and coordinating official travel for the senator and staff.
- Serving as a back-up driver and body person for the senator, often on nights and weekends.
- Performing administrative support tasks for the Director of Scheduling & Operations.
- Providing ad-hoc logistical and project management support to the Senator’s schedule.
Strong candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- 1-2 years of professional experience, and a long-term interest in scheduling and operations work.
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
- The ability to multitask, prioritize, and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
- The ability to stay calm under pressure and exercise sound judgment.
- The ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
- A friendly, professional, and collaborative demeanor when interacting with principals, stakeholders, constituents, and staff alike.
- A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record for occasional driving needs.
- Due to the variability of the Senate schedule, the ability to work long and unscheduled hours, including nights and weekends, on a very regular basis.
