Job Description
Seeking a highly skilled applicant for a dynamic policy role at an independent federal agency. You’ll directly support the agency’s top executive in performing complex analyses and meeting mission requirements. The right person can quickly digest large volumes of highly technical information and use it to craft nuanced, evidence-based arguments in plain language. They are equally comfortable conducting independent research or defending policy positions in group settings. Exceptional tact, discretion, and confidentiality are essential, as is flexibility to work outside traditional business hours as needed. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience supporting principals in a Hill, Executive-branch, or C-Suite office and a general understanding of the transportation industry and transportation safety, with aviation experience highly desired.
Please note that this is a political appointment (Schedule C) position and will require a background check by the White House. The ability to travel frequently, locally, and nationally, to staff the executive at external events and investigations is required. Salary depends on the GS pay scale. A sense of humor is greatly appreciated. If interested, please submit a resume to Katherine.Ambrose@NTSB.gov by February 13, 2026.
