Summary

The position is located in the Department of State (DOS), Office of the Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, Office of Policy, Planning and Resources (R/PPR). The incumbent serves as a senior policy officer responsible for leading R/PPR engagement with key interagency partners, including the Department of Defense (DOD) and the Intelligence Community, and providing expert analysis and advice on government-wide activities aimed at engaging foreign publics.


Duties

Manages a comprehensive program of outreach services designed to engage foreign audiences in the promotion of U.S. foreign policy objects and priorities.

Identifies and analyzes foreign affairs policy information that could have long-term or short-term impact on the Department's public diplomacy efforts.

Liaises with stakeholders in the U.S. and abroad, regional and geographic bureaus, foreign governments and the media to identify opportunities and leverage their support.

Routinely engages with and briefs senior level staff in response to their inquiries and is responsible for conveying complex information of the most sensitive and high-profile issues of the Department.

Exercises executive level direction, oversight, and accountability for the success of major initiatives focusing on new directions in public diplomacy, including policy development, strategic planning, and associated resource management
